A day of exploration of our genome meant for high school students. We will recall the core steps towards knowledge of the human genome, and discuss how this achievement has changed the face of bio-medical research, the vision we have of the organization of our genome and the understanding of the mechanisms underlying many diseases. We will take a virtual tour of the human genome by using a sort of genomic Google Maps. There will be quizzes to explore numbers and surprising facts about our genome. Between a presentation and a stop on our tour, participants will be able to take part in a real extraction of their own DNA.
